About us: TaylorMade Golf Company was founded in the spring of 1979 by Gary Adams, a golf equipment salesman. Adams took a loan of $24,000 on his home and started the company. Initially, TaylorMade operated from a 6,000 square-foot building that used to be a television assembly plant. At that time, there were only three employees, including Adams, and they had a single innovative product, a 12-degree driver made of stainless steel.

This new metalwood was different from traditional wooden woods in terms of appearance and sound, but most importantly, it performed better. The clubhead's design with perimeter-weighting provided forgiveness on off-center hits, and its lower center of gravity made it easier to launch the ball into the air.

As the son of a golf professional, Adams was determined to ensure that TaylorMade clubs maintained the authentic look and feel that true golfers expected from golf clubs. The company was committed to combining innovation with authenticity. Their passion for the game was unwavering, and they pledged to be competitive in order to establish and grow the brand.
